Top Party Destinations for Adults

Partying is not just for those on Spring Break. Even if college is a distant memory, there are some great destinations to dance till dawn or drink up. Here are some of our top party destinations for adults:

Ibiza

The Spanish island of Ibiza didn’t make its way into a Jennifer Lopez dance song by accident. It deserves its reputation as the late night dance capital of the Mediterranean. Clubs here often stay open until 8 a.m. Clubs here include Privilege, the largest club in the world, and Amnesia, famous for its foam parties. The longstanding gay club Lola is also fun and well-known. The vistas when you are by the water and away from the dance floor are not bad either.

Chicago

Chicago’s vibrant nightlife scene was on display years ago in the movie “About Last Night” starring Rob Lowe. Many of those Rush Street area bars such as Butch McGuire’s are still there while new bars are popping up all the time. The Clark street area near Wrigley Field is packed during and after games with drinking buddies. Chicago also many destinations for gay party goers  from Sidetrack, arguably the best gay video bar in the world, to “Big Chicks”, a neighborhood bar that has been the recipient of the award for “Best Gay Bar in the Country” and was the meeting place for Purple Light Vacations’ principals.

Mykonos

Mykonos, Greece’s top gay summer destination,  is well-known for its great nightlife, both gay and mainstream. The variety of nightlife on Mykonos is wide. You can have a subdued cocktail watching the impressive sunset or listen to the singing talents of performers at the gay (but straight-friendly) and fun piano bar Montparnasse. There are also great dance bars both straight (try Skandanavian) or gay (try Jackie O’s). Mykonos’ wonderful beaches including Elia and Superparadise will help you spend your days.

Las Vegas

Sin City is the quintessential party city. You can sit at a slot machine or playing table and have drinks brought to you. You can sip champagne or vintage wines at the City’s now remarkable restaurant and bar scene. You can also dance the night away at the ever changing clubs in the city. A top mainstream one now is the Jewel at Aria. Piranha remains the gay dance club that is most popular. However, there are some other worthwhile nightlife options far away from the strip, like the friendly, low-keyed but popular and very enjoyable gay bar, the Phoenix.

Tel Aviv

You may not think of Tel Aviv, Israel as a party destination, but you should.  It like NYC, has an around the clock culture. It is a surprisingly liberal city and hosts Asia’s largest gay pride festival. In 2008 it also hosted Israel’s first sex festival. It offers nightlife for people of all ages and sexual orientations from the Block nightclub to the pan sexual Dungeon fetish club.

New Orleans

You can never leave NOLA out of the party destinations list. Where else can you take your cocktail with you as you walk from bar to bar? Where else are many bars open around the clock? Of course Mardi Gras is New Orleans’ most famous party, but Southern Decadence over Labor Day weekend is even more salacious. When you are not partying or getting into trouble, you can sample the jazz scene, taste the wonderful Creole cuisine and walk the charming and historic French Quarter and Garden District.
