This year marks Canada’s 150^th birthday and the celebration continues year-round. To begin with, all of Canada’s National Parks are free throughout the year. The Colors

Specifically, the fall colors. Canada, for the most part is a vast forested landscape, making it a prime leaf-peeping destination. Golds, reds, yellows and vibrant orange leaves dot the countryside. One of the best ways to view the leaves is along a fall foliage cruise to New Brunswick, Quebec City, Montreal and Saint Edward Island.

The Culture

Canada’s culture is among the most varied in world. With French culture predominating Montreal and Quebec City, the Scottish & Viking influences along the Eastern Coast, the Western frontier cowboy life in Calgary to the diversity of indigenous Canadians throughout. Canadians are also known for their accepting and friendly demeanor, making everyone feel at home.

The Cuisine

While we joked that there’s more to Canada than maple syrup, we’d be remiss not to mention the distinctly Canadian flavors. Poutine is a popular national dish of French fries, cheese curds and gravy. Salmon, haddock and other cold-water seafood is also found throughout the country. And if you’re in Montreal, look for Montreal style bagels, specific to that area.
