What to Wear When You Fly
Dressing correctly for air travel means you are choosing items that are comfortable, and will get you through airport security swiftly. However, you do not have to compromise style to do it. Here are four things you should wear when you fly.
Comfy Shoes
Choose shoes with a low heel, or better yet, flats. Make sure they are easy to get on and off (airport security loves to see your socks and/or bare toes). Opt for simple styles that are comfortable. Remember, feet tend to swell while you’re in the air, so take that into consideration when choosing your traveling shoes.
Fabrics that Breathe Well
You want to choose clothing that allows moisture and air to pass through in order to remain comfortable (and feel cleaner) for the duration of your flight. Breathable linen, silk, or cotton are all good choices. You don’t want to choose a fabric that will trap air next to your skin. You’ll perspire more and feel dirtier at the end of your travel.
Layer it Up
You just never know what temperature changes you’ll face at the airport, in the air, and at your destination. So, in order to be comfy regardless of the climate, wear layers. Scarves, light jackets, sweaters, and wraps can all serve double duty, to keep you warm, and a pillow.
In addition, the more you wear on you, the less you’ll have to pack in your checked bag. Put the items you aren’t wearing in your carry on or place them under your seat or in the overhead bin. You can also carry a foldable bag where you can place the items you don’t need at the moment.
Keep it Loose
Avoid tight clothing (until you get to the cruise or resort of course!). Not only will it be uncomfortable, but you could also run the risk of blood clots from flying. Choose wide legged pants or skirts that are looser in the waist and the seat and, if you are wearing socks, make certain they aren’t so tight they leave marks on your legs.
You can find a wide variety of comfortable, breathable clothing that will satisfy even the most fashion conscious among you.
