Want to Know Why We Love Provincetown?
Provincetown, fondly known as P-town is one of our favorite places in the world. Want to know why?
The People Who Live and Travel There
P-town has long been a place that attracts authors, artists, and other interesting individuals. It is not stuffy at all and very relaxed, but you will find more people than you will find in most places that truly have something interesting to say. P-town, while not by any means exclusively gay, is also one of the most tolerant, gay-friendly places in the world. You will see families of all kinds enjoying the antics of drag queens, muscle boys, and everything else from this vibrant and varied community.
The Housing Options
We love that P-town has hotels, motels, guest houses, and other accommodations in a wide variety of price ranges and with different vibes. Some have a luxurious pool and spa. Some are quiet and romantic. While others have a sexual tension. There are options for everyone.
The Restaurant Scene
We love going out to eat in P-town. There are options from good breakfast places and simple lobster roll sandwiches to elegant waterfront dining. The fresh seafood, especially our favorite Maine Lobster (to which spiny lobster in our view, doesn’t hold a candle to), is worth the trip there alone. So too, are the places giving one a taste of the Portuguese culinary influences due to P-town’s Portuguese history.
The Entertainment and Nightlife Scenes
There is perhaps no place other than NYC where such an amazing line up of talent performs all during the summer. Their performance spaces, particularly those at the Crown and Anchor and the Art House, draw top level talent. Last summer featured performers including well known comedians, singers, and other entertainers each of whom was well worth the price of admission. They included Kristin Chenoweth, Cheyenne Jackson, Miss Richfield 1981, Amy and Freddy, Well Strung, Meghan Hilty, Linda Eder, Tommy Tune, Varla Jean Merman, Purple Light friend Poppy, and many more. You certainly cannot be bored during the evenings in P-town.
P-town also has fun places to party. It is perhaps best known for its daily T-dances at the Boatslip and after-T at the Pied Piper. In the evenings however, it offers everything from cozy piano bar spaces to fun video bars and places to dance.
The Art Scene
P-town has been attracting talented artists for years. If you like art, you can spend a day or two touring art studios and a suprisingly good art museum to see what local artists are creating.
We love biking or busing to P-town’s Herring Cove Beach (P-town’s gay/lesbian friendly beach). We also enjoy spending a day (or two) at fun hotel/motel pools that attract gay and gay-friendly crowds and offer you the option to drink and read a good book in the comfort of a chaise lounge.
We know P-town and would love to share our enthusiasm and knowledge with you. Contact us to book as P-town will book quickly for the summer. Throughout the year there are weeks catering to bears, lesbians, leather daddies, and many other groups as well.
I love Ptown! So many special memories with friends and family have been created there. Can’t wait to get back. It’s just magical!
