Update on Cabo and Puerto Vallarta after Hurricane Odile
As you are probably aware, Hurricane Odile caused significant damage to Cabo San Lucas. Cruise ships scheduled to go there late last month and early this month, changed their itinerary and avoided docking in Cabo. Since then however, other cruise lines, including Princess during the recent Atlantis Mexican Riviera charter, have started docking there again. As Rich Campbell, owner of Atlantis and RSVP commented in the Cruise Guide for this recent cruise, it is important to assist the tourist mecca of Cabo in getting back on its feet.
Meanwhile, Puerto Vallarta and the surrounding towns around its Banderas Bay, which are located about 300 miles south of Cabo were subjected to nothing more than some high surf. PV only sustained minor damage and their tourist business has been largely unaffected. PV was subjected to a more serious hurricane back in 2002 (Kenna) but it has been completely rebuilt and is better than ever!
