Travel Industry Support to Ukraine
The travel industry has mobilized to give much needed support to Ukraine. The refugee crisis resulting from the Russian invasion of Ukraine has hit home with many. Travel companies and destinations are among them.
United Airlines has launched its own fundraising campaign with the American Red Cross, Airlink, Americares and World Central Kitchen. United has agreed to match the first 5 million miles that Mileage Plus members donate plus $100,000.
Airbnb’s CEO Brian Chesky has pledged to host 100,000 refugees in Ukraine’s neighboring countries.
A Polish hotel chain Arche Hotels is using all of its 16 hotels as temporary housing for Ukrainian refugees.
Grand Circle Corp which ones several travel companies including Grand Circle Cruise Lines has been matching donations made to its foundation, the Grand Circle Foundation.
Tour operator Collette is providing support to Ukraine through its foundation of the same name. The Collette Foundation has pledged $200,000 in humanitarian organizations in Ukraine as well as its refugees.
The support these companies and destinations have been providing to Ukraine is of course in addition to travel providers including cruise and airlines canceling routes to Russia.
