Thinking About a Gay Vacation to Russia? Be Careful!

While Russia offers much for travelers, gay travelers need to be very careful about being “out” there and especially trying to hook up with anyone on line there. There are many reported incidents of groups trying to lure gay people whom they equate with pedophiles, and then cause them to suffer appalling emotional and physical damage. Check out the recent HBO documentary “Hunted”, which is to put it mildly, difficult to watch. Beyond these increasing violent groups, Russia itself has recently put an end to foreign student exchanges with the U.S. in part due to allegedly “friendly relations” between gay men that caused students from Russia not to return. Russia in our view, seems currently to be “out of control” with fear.
