Special Smoky Mountain Train Ride
Have you ever been to the Smoky Mountains? You can experience these picturesque mountains on a one-day only historic Smoky Mountain train ride. The special train trip is hosted by the Watauga Valley Railroad Historical Society and Museum. This train trip to take place September 11, 2021 will be on the famous Great Smoky Mountains Railroad. Itinerary
The trip begins and ends in Bryson City, North Carolina, a chill non-touristy town that nonetheless offers a few museums as well as breweries and a variety of restaurants not expected in a town of its size. A train ticket ride includes admission to the Smoky Mountain Lionel Train Museum.
After departing Bryson City the train follows the Little Tennessee River passing Fontana Lake and the Nantahala Gorge before returning to Bryson City.

Movie buffs will also appreciate this historic ride. The Great Smoky Mountains Railroad has been featured in many well known Hollywood films. One was the “Fugitive” with Harrison Ford and Tommy Lee Jones. Another was “Forces of Nature” starring Sandra Bullock and Ben Affleck.
Tickets and Pricing
Train ticket price for adults range from $94 for Tourist Coach and Open Air tickets, to $167 for First Class (which includes a meal and dessert). Passengers can either drive to Bryson City to pick up the train or take a motor coach from Johnson City, Tennessee.
