CDC Lowers Advisory on Cruising
The CDC has recently softened its guidance on cruising.
On February 15th, the CDC reduced cruising from the top level of 4 (Do Not Travel) to a Level 3 (Reconsider Travel).
To put this updated guidance on cruising in perspective level 3 is below the CDC’s guidance on many foreign countries that Americans have been traveling to frequently including Mexico and several countries in Western Europe.
The CDC spokesperson Caitlin Shockey said the guidance was softened for vaccinated persons in response to a decrease in Covid-19 cases on cruise ships operating in the United States.
The CDC notes that “getting vaccinated is still the best way to protect yourself from severe disease, slow the spread of Covid-19 and the reduce the number of new variants”
This is great news for cruise enthusiasts and for the cruise lines who have taken many precautions to facilitate the safety of cruise travelers. To see the full text of the CDC’s updated guidance, go HERE.
