Canada Will Ease Travel Requirements
Starting on February 28, Canada will ease travel requirements for vaccinated international travelers.
As of now, PCR molecular tests are required for entry. Under the new eased requirements, the less expensive and easier to obtain rapid antigen tests will suffice.
They are nonetheless adding random testing for international travelers entering the country to try to keep Covid cases down.
Canadian Health Minister Jean-Yves Duclos said “These changes are possible not only because we have passed the peak of Omicron, but because Canadians across the country have listened to the science and to experts”. Canadian vaccination rates significantly exceed those in the U.S. with roughly 80% of its citizens reportedly fully vaccinated.
Canada’s provinces are also themselves planning to reduce restrictions. Quebec, Ontario as well as Alberta and Saskatchewan have all stated plans to ease restrictions as their Covid cases have decreased. For example, Ontario intends to fast track a plan to eliminated both proof of vaccination requirements and lift pandemic based capacity limits on many businesses.
This is welcomed news to U.S. travelers hoping to visit the country to the North. Would you like to book a trip to Canada? Give us a call.
