If you didn’t know, Mardi Gras is the last day before Lent begins on a Wednesday. It signifies the last day to get indulge before 40 days of fasting. Over the centuries, Mardi Gras (Fat Tuesday) has become an all-out hedonistic celebration. Parades, parties, specialty treats, excitement and merriment make Mardi Gras what it is today.
Mardi Gras Parties in New Orleans
A lot happens in the Big Easy during Mardi Gras. Parades happen weeks in advance in and around the New Orleans area. Called Krewe’s, each has a unique history and theme. Keep in mind, the big floats don’t roll down Bourbon Street.
