2021 St. Patrick’s Day Parades
St. Patrick’s Day Parades are right up there with Thanksgiving and Christmas Day parades. However, as gathering crowds are still not ideal, parades and gatherings for St. Patrick’s Day have adjusted for 2021.
While last St. Patty’s Day may have found a lot of cancelations, this year, we’ve had time to adjust and pivot.
This is how some of the most popular cities are celebrating St. Patrick’s Day this year.
Savannah
In the past, Savannah, Georgia has been home to one of the largest Irish celebrations throughout the month of March. From Savannah.com, “Working to keep the spirit of St. Patrick’s Day alive in the safest way possible, event organizers are thrilled to announce the inaugural Shamrock Ships Flotilla setting sail on Wednesday, March 17, 2021. The flotilla will be viewable from SavannahCams.com and from the physically distanced Shamrock Soiree at the Savannah Convention Center from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m.”
New York City
NYC is also known for its St. Patrick’s Day parade, 260 years in a row. There will be a small and symbolic parade on March 17th, but expect to watch it virtually this year through the NYC St. Patrick’s Day Parade Facebook page here.
Boston
Nearly 25% of all residents in Boston are Irish, so it stands to reason this is a great city to celebrate St. Patrick’s day. As with the other cities, there will be no parade this year. However, walking along the self-guided Irish Heritage Trail is a beautiful substitute. You’ll visit statues, monuments, and buildings that pay tribute to the Irish history in the city.
Dublin, Ohio
What city in the US could be more Irish than Dublin, Ohio? This year the creative minds of Dublin are doing a reverse parade where the parade floats are stationary and guests drive through the parade. It takes place on March 13. See bagpipers, Irish dancers, large inflatable floats, and more.
Virtual Dublin Ireland
The Irish eyes will be tune in to a virtual festival in Dublin Ireland. St. Patricks’ Festival TV will have 6 days of virtual events. Experience authentic Irish stories, music, dances, and more. Visit https://www.stpatricksfestival.ie/ for a full list of over 100 events.
