Yosemite Is Open This Summer With New Reservation System
Looking to go to Yosemite National Park this summer? Yosemite is open, however they have a new reservation system. This system requires temporary day-use reservations to enter the park starting May 21st. Here is a brief summary of the new rules:
What Are The Effective Dates of The Temporary Reservation System?
Day-use reservations will be required between May 21st and September 30, 2021.
Who Is Exempt From Having To Have a Day-Use Reservation?
Those who have a private vacation or other approved lodging inside of the park. The lodging locations are limited to specific locations such as Yosemite West so is it is important to know or check the limitations. While those with a reservation for approved accommodations inside the park do not need to purchase a Day-use reservation, if they wish to drive into the park, they still need to pay the park entrance fee. Those who are on certain permitted commercial tour,s and those visitors with wilderness and Half Dome permits, are also exempt.
How Do You Obtain a Day-Use Reservation?
You go to www.recreation.gov. There you can purchase in advance a Day-us reservation that is good for park entry for three consecutive days. Each Day-use reservation is good for one vehicle and the occupants of that vehicle. Reservations are expected to go very quickly. Reservations for May through July 31st are already on sale. August reservations go on sale on May 5th. On May 12th, reservations for September will be available.
