The Chateau Louise de la Valliere is a new 5-star boutique hotel in a 16th century chateau. It is located near both Tours and Amboise and in a good location for exploring the other Châteaux de la Loire, wineries and other sites.

This castle offers 20 rooms and suites inside a 16th century chateau. There is a lot of history here as the castle was the childhood vacation home of the Duchess of Vallliere who was a “favorite” of King Louis XIV. Over the years, the castle has been visited by some of France’s top royalty including Madame de Pompadour. Each of the richly decorated rooms/suites has a story to tell.

Jacques Garcia, an internationally known decorator did the impressive reconstructing of the original furnishings and décor.

The chateau offers a lush garden that is large enough to be designated a forest and includes a fig conservatory and a park planted with roses. The park includes not only flora but also fauna including deer, hares and many bird species.

The chateau also offers a wonderful fine dining restaurant named L’Amphitryon (named after a Moliere comedy) that serves multicourse tasting menus as well as afternoon teas. There is also a lovely spa called la Rosee.
