TSA Extends Mask Mandate
The TSA (Transportation Security Administration) will extend the mask mandate on public transportation to at least April 18th.
TSA representatives are working cooperatively with the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). These two agencies are working on a new policy framework whereby the mask mandate can be lifted safely. Per the CDC “this revised framework will be based on the COVID-19 community levels, risk of new variants, national data and the latest science”.
The CDC reports the decision to lift the mandate will be base more on hospitalizations and local hospital capacity rather than the overall numbers of confirmed COVID-19 cases. That sounds like potentially good news for those hoping to be able to fly without wearing a mask in the near future.
The mandate was set to expire March 18 but will be extended for another month.
