Despite high gas prices, the majority of those who will be traveling will be driving although nearly 20% will be flying to their destination. Airline flight prices are no bargain, either. Domestic airfares are up on average by 32% than the same period last year.

In terms of the top destinations for the Fourth of July holiday based on data from Travel and Leader and Skyscanner, Americans are looking to go back to metropolitan cities. Las Vegas is the top reported domestic destination for the holiday weekend followed by New Orleans, New York City, Orlando, Los Angeles and Seattle.

Top international destinations are London, Athens, Paris Rome, Barcelona, Montreal and Cancun.
