Starwood Hotels recently became the first hotel chain to stop allowing people to cancel hotel rooms without charge up to midnight of the night before their scheduled check-in time. Starwood made this decision after two hotel chains, Hilton and Marriott, made their cancellation policy more restrictive than it had been last year. This change will particularly affect business travelers whose travel plans frequently change without much prior notice. If you are traveling for business, or otherwise want more flexibility in changing your travel plans, pay attention to updated cancellation policies.
