Tradewind Voyages to Launch New Tall Sailing Vessel Next Month

In November, Tradewind Voyages, a new cruise company out of England will launch a new tall sailing vessel named the Golden Horizon. The initial sailing is to be November 12th. The Golden Horizon is the largest square-rigged sailing vessel in the world. . It is a near replica of  the French II a ship that was built in 1911. Its 140 staterooms are serviced by a crew of 159.

Tradewinds will provide a cruise that provides unique experience, luxury and sustainability.

The Caribbean Ports and Itineraries Offered

Unique Experience

The Golden Horizon will initially be offering various Caribbean itineraries out of its hub of Bridgetown, Barbados. The itineraries include some of the most popular ports in the Caribbean such as St. Lucia and St. Barts. They also include smaller Caribbean ports that larger ships cannot visit. See the itinerary map above. Next summer, it will move to the Mediterrean and offer some wonderful Med itineraries.

The Dive Pool for Scuba Practice

A focus of the onboard experience is activity and wellness. The vessel’s marina acts as a launching pad for snorkeling, kayaking and stand up paddle boarding. The vessel also offers diving instruction with a separate pool for that purpose. It also boasts a very well equipped fitness center. They will offer free yoga, meditation and breathing classes.

The concept of wellness extends to the spa which includes a sauna, jacuzzi, and hammam.

The Golden Horizon will also provide an inclusive experience with cruise fares including gratuities, free Wifi, and selected beers and wines at lunch and dinner in the main restaurant.

Luxury

The luxury of the vessel starts with the ship’s decor which is elegant but understated. The common areas are stylish and comfortable It continues with the amenities including a large pool for a sailing vessel and good dining and bar options.

The vessel’s staterooms are luxurious and spacious. They are all ocean view and there are staterooms with balconies as well as upscale suites with minibars with full bottles of liquor and other amenities. The staterooms baths are among the most luxurious we have seen on a sailing vessel.

Sustainability

Tradewinds Voyages’ philosophy is “to be powered by nature whenever possible”. They intend to use nature rather than a propulsion engine abou 70% of the time. They  designed the vessel to meet the most modern and stringent environmental regulations

Considering the quality of the ship and the inclusive experience it will provide, the pricing for the Golden Horizon is remarkably affordable. Fares currently start from $2,399 a person.
