Royal Carribbean Announces New Private Island in Mexico
Royal Caribbean International’s private island in the Bahamas named Coco Cay has been a major cruise attraction for its cruise passengers. Rebranded as “Perfect Day at CocoCay”, RCL has put in major resouces over the past few years to enhance and expand that private island’s offerings.
RCL has now announced and released renderings/videos of a new private island for the cruise line in Mexico. This new island that they are calling “Perfect Day Mexico”. It will be located on Mexico’s Caribbean coast in the Costa Mayan village of Mahahual. It is slated to open in 2027.
Mara Lezama the Governor of Quintana Roo, Mexico shared her excitement on RCL’s plans as follows: “We are very excited that Royal Caribbean has decided to invest in Mahahual, a land of opportunity and hard working people”. “My administration is looking forward to working very closely with the company to ensure a sustainable destination that brings shared prosperity to the region and that our local communities are part of the historic investment. I am sure that guests will be marveled by the beauties that southern Quintano Roo has to offer, but most importantly, the kindness of of people”
