Royal Caribbean to Sail from San Diego for the First Time!
We at Purple Light Vacations are excited that Royal Caribbean International has announced that for the first time, they will have cruises departing from our home location of San Diego.
Starting in October of 2026, RCL’s Serenade of the Seas will sail from San Diego. It will offer 3, 4, and 7 night cruises to the Mexican Riviera.
Ports of call depending on the itinerary will include Cabo San Lucas, La Paz, Ensenada as well as Mazatlan and Catalina.
This year they are also offering one 13 night one way cruise on the Serenade of the Seas from San Diego to Costa Rica that includes a Panama Canal passage.
The Ship
The Serenade of the Seas began cruising in 2003 and was the third ship in RCL’s Radiance Class. The ship accommodates about 2,100 passengers. It features a mini-golf course, rock climbing as well as a pool with a retractable roof. It also offers over 15 dining venues and multiple bars and entertainment spaces.

Cruise prices are very affordable and for some dates, you can book a stateroom for less than $100 a person per day (based on double occupancy).
Cruises from San Diego in 2026 are already on sale.
