Pride Events at Disney and Around Florida
You may think that June Pride events in Florida may not happen this year, but you’d be wrong. Despite what might be happening in the state capital, many communities are not only continuing to host pride events, they are making a point to publicize them
32nd annual Gay Days in Orlando
While not an official Disney event (stay tuned below) GayDays has happened during the first weekend in June since 1991. Multiple events are staged at all the Walt Disney World Theme parks as well as Universal Orlando and Sea World. According to their Facebook page, Gay Days in Orlando will not be stopped. While this is an independent organization, Disney proudly welcomes visitors during the Red Shirt Days with additional Pride merchandise, as well as inclusive messaging surrounding the event.
Universal Orlando also includes Love is Universal Pride merchandise during the annual event.
Although it’s not taking place during Pride month, the Out & Equal Workplace Summit has been accounted for in September and Walt Disney World is hosting it. Taking place September 11-14th, the company strongly believes it is “more important now than ever before to continue our necessary and urgent work.” The largest LGBTQ+ workplace equality event promises to create a stronger more unified “we” for themselves, their team, and the world.
St. Pete Pride
St. Pete will have 10 events across the month of June, including their annual pride parade on June 24th, stating that the drag community is welcome with open arms. In their Instagram post, “You can’t stop Pride. that’s it. Key West Pride
Key West Pride is gearing up for their 2023 event. this year is the 20th Anniversary of the sea-to-sea Diversity Flag Bash, and this year they are planning something special that is sure to be bigger than ever. The event is planned for the month of June, with the parade scheduled on Sunday, June 11. This One Human Family philosophy which will highlight the community’s resilience and unity during these challenging times. There will also be a variety of other events throughout the month such as beach parties, art walks, live music performances, drag shows and more. Visitors can expect a safe and fun-filled experience that celebrates diversity and inclusion.
Naples Pridefest
This year is Rise – Resist – Persist theme for Pridefest happening Saturday, June 10th. From their website, “Naples Pride celebrates diversity and unity, educates the community on LGBTQ issues, and promotes equal rights for all. This all-inclusive, family-friendly, and open to the public event will combine entertainers, speakers, musicians, performers, vendors, exhibitors, kids activities, food & drink for a day of fun and celebration.”
Panama City
Taking place Saturday, June 10th, Panama City will celebrate with a. free all-inclusive, family-friendly event from 2 pm – 8 pm. Entertainers, speakers, musicians, performers and more will be on deck for a full day of celebration.
