Detours, the gay adventure tour company has announced a new all gay adventure tour to Scandinavia that will show you the best of three Scandinavian countries. Experience the vibrant capital cities of Denmark, Norway, and Sweden and the stunning fjords surrounding Bergen on  Detours’ first no-bus trip!  Take in the sea-front cities of Copenhagen, Oslo, Bergen, and Stockholm on this 3-country itinerary featuring scenic cruises and incredible train journeys.  The cities are uniquely beautiful, with world-class dining and museums, but add to that some incredibly beautiful landscapes and outdoor activities and you’re in for an unforgettable trip.

This trip has been uniquely crafted around beautiful boutique accommodation in the heart of each city, as well as an emphasis on beautiful cruise, train, and flight inclusions to ensure our travelers experience both the heart of each city as well as the incredible landscape along the way.  That’s why, as Detours’ first no-bus itinerary, you’ll take an overnight cruise from Copenhagen to Oslo, a scenic train ride on the famous Bergen Railway to Bergen, and a quick flight to Stockholm to round off this pan-Scandinavia adventure together.

Itinerary

Days 1, 2 and 3

Copenhagen, Denmark

Copenhagen, often regarded as the “happiest city in the world” is a fitting place to begin your adventure with Detours. A city known for its unique canals, endless great restaurants, cycling culture, award-winning breweries, and scenic downtown core. It’s here that you will gather with your Detours group for your first evening together where you’ll get to know the city and your fellow group-mates. Your first night will be a private biking and dining tour exploring the city with a local guide.

On your second day, a full day in the city, you will have the day at leisure though your Detours leader will be happy to make suggestions and assist.

At 3 in the afternoon on your third day, your Detours group will head down to the port and jump on an overnight cruise to Norway! It will be a comfortable crossing with real beds and bathrooms in private cabins, excellent meals and beautiful views from every window. There’s no better way to make the trip between these two Scandinavian capitals.

Days 4 and 5

Oslo, Norway

On the morning of your 4th day, you will wake up to a full breakfast buffet as you watch the Norwegian coastline turn into the urban core of Oslo. At around 10 a.m. you’ll disembark into central Oslo and your group will check into your hotel there and set off exploring for the next couple of nights.

Oslo is a very modern, trendy city, but also retains a historic charm and small-town feel. You will have two days here to explore the beautiful parks, unique architecture and museums (including the Viking Ship Museum, National Museum and Munch), even a fortress and a palace right in the city.

Design is huge in Norway and there’s no shortage of prime examples of why Oslo is regarded as one of the world’s trendiest cities. It’s also in one of the most progressive regions in the world, with several LGBT nightlife options to explore after a day spent enjoying the city.

Days 6 and 7

Bergen, Norway

The 6th day is one of the amazing contrasts and beauty as you depart from the capital city of Oslo on one of the world’s most epic train journeys, the Bergen Railway. It’s a very comfortable 7-hour visual delight as the urban center morphs into spectacular fjords, waterfalls and rivers. Crossing the Hardangervidda National Park and onto the Hardangervidda plateau (Europe’s largest high mountain plateau) you’ll be entertained in every direction while relaxing in comfortable seating or dining at the on-board only restaurants available. Don’t worry, there’s WIFI on the train also.

You’ll spend the following 2 nights in Bergen surrounded by the mountains and fjords that make Norway’s scenery so famous. There are plenty of adventurous activities available here including hiking, ziplining and paragliding, or opt for some more relaxed options including strolling through the charming old-world town center, checking out museums, taking the funicular up to Mount Floyen, or cruising down the Sognerfjord, Norway’s longest and deepest fjord. You will have 2 nights here with your Detours group to soak in the beauty of this region before jetting off to Stockholm.

Days 8, 9, 10 and 11

Stockholm, Sweden

On your 8th day, you’ll head to the airport for an 80-minute flight to your third and final country on your Detours adventure, Sweden! You’ll arrive in the capital city of Stockholm for 3 nights. Yet another beautiful city, but within its own unique atmosphere and charm. It’s the largest of the Scandinavian capitals with plenty to see and experience while you are here.

For first-time visitors, you must have a flaka (like a coffee break) while you explore the most beautiful neighborhood, Gamla Stan and its iconic central square where you’ll find the colorful houses that grace Stockholm postcards. From there, experiencing the city can be done on land checking out the unique museums such as the very popular Vasa Museum, or the ABBA Museum), or on water with a boat tour around the city.

Your Detours group tour will end on day 11 but they/we can arrange for extra time in Stockholm or in Copenhagen before the Detours tour begins. In addition, Detours is offering an extension option in Finland and Estonia. Ask us for details.
