Djúpivogur is a small town and municipality located on a peninsula in the Austurland in eastern Iceland. The coastline consists of three magnificent fjords, Berufjörður, Hamarsfjörður, and Álftafjörður (Cruise Director Marti Cummings will help you with those pronunciations) which create a striking landscape to explore. On land, the town is shadowed by Búlandstindur, a pyramid-shaped basalt mountain peaking at 1069 m, making for an incredible sight. Numerous local legends surround this mountain, which is said to grant wishes during the summer solstice.

From here, you can also see the bronze landscapes of the mountaintops. You could visit Eldheimar, an ultra-modern and interactive museum which traces the volcanic eruption Heimaey experienced in 1973.

Iceland’s capital stretches along the edge of a vast bay in the west of the country. Perlan, the “Pearl of Reykjavík,” a museum located on ’Oskjuhlið hill, offers a panoramic view of the lush, green landscapes. A little further, one can easily spot the signpost showing the way to the evangelical Hallgrímskirkja church, and to the historical center where one can stroll along the Skólavördustígur and the Laugavegur, two lively streets with charming small shops. At VACAYA, they’ve always believed Trip Insurance is critical to the vacation planning process. Nothing breaks their heart more than hearing from guests who elect not to purchase insurance, but then something tragic – a death, the loss of a home, etc. – happens and they’re unable to attend the event. As painful as it for them, VACAYA is unable to be your insurance in those moments. And as sad as the stories are, VACAYA is unable to break our Terms & Conditions with you. The stated reason for that is because to maintain their Seller of Travel licenses and to comply with all regulations, they must administer our Terms & Conditions equitably across all guests. Failure to do so risks VACAYA’s very existence.
We recommend a “Cancel For Any Reason” or CFAR policy for everyone, and for good reason: if you decide you don’t want to travel after the cancellation penalty period has begun, this type of insurance covers you against total loss. It’s also a great way to help honor your Social Contract with VACAYA.

Jonathan of Purple Light Vacations guided us through the entire process to book our Atlantis Caribbean cruise at no additional charge to us. He kept us informed on all the details of the cruise and events happening on/off the boat. Upon arrival on the ship, a bottle of Merlot was waiting for us. Upon disembarkation, an email was waiting for us to see how we enjoyed the cruise as well as a card in the mail to welcome us home. Normally I research and book hotels on my own. We were in New Orleans for Southern Decadence. Purple Light Vacations recommended a spectacular hotel right in the area we were interested in staying. We have also traveled to Italy, France, and Barcelona where each of their recommendations was excellent! Everything went exactly as planned.
