New and Exciting Things are Happening in Weho
Looking for a fun place to go for a weekend getaway? What about West Hollywood? West Hollywood conjures up visions of movie stars and trendy places to party, but Weho is more than that and is constantly changing. New and interesting options of where to stay, where to eat and what to do there abound in 2015!
While Weho is known for hotels with modern design sensibility such as the Mondrian, new hideaways and hotels are sprouting up that create some new opportunities. One of our current favorites is a luxury all-suites hotel that has undergone some recent and well done renovations. Another for those seeking a budget option is a Saint-Bart’s inspired clubhouse with elegant, simple and minimalist rooms surrounding a pleasant pool. It offers one of the best deals in Weho. The first brand new hotel in Weho is under construction and scheduled to be completed next year. Contact us to let you know up to the date options and pricing.
Long known for some excellent restaurants, we love some of the new places sprouting up. One of them, the Church Key, not only serves excellent food, but does so in a pleasant and quirky atmosphere. They offer dim sum style service, frozen cocktails, and flaming desserts and in their own words like to “push the envelope.” We love restaurant owners who have a sense of humor, especially if they also are serious when it comes to putting out quality dishes as they do at the Church Key. For coffee and morning (or evening) pastries and celebrity watching, we also like Alfred’s Coffee and Kitchen. They even have free Wi-Fi.
Looking for a new place to party? Of course, the old standards like Rage and the Abbey are still there but so now is one of our favorite bars from NYC. The owners of Flaming Saddles, that NY institution that converts non-country music enthusiasts to fans of its bar, have recently opened a Weho branch. It is the first country-western bar in Weho. Just like the first Flaming Saddles located in the Hell’s Kitchen neighborhood of Manhattan, Flaming Saddles Weho gathers fans by being friendly and fun. Of course, the fact that its cute bartending staff get up on the bar and dance throughout the night sure doesn’t hurt either.
What to do when you are not lounging by the pool, how about being pampered at a first-rate spa? The Argyle Salon and Spa inside an Art-Deco style building fits the bill. All kinds of treatments from standard massages to an appropriate to Weho “Rehab package” are available and you will be placed in your own private spa suite for the ultimate “star-treatment” feeling.
Looking for something cultural to do? The Hollywood Museum has special exhibits as well as their permanent collection including an exhibit on the history of makeup in Hollywood. It was the original headquarters for Max Factor by the way.
As to the performing arts, the Coast Theater presents local and colorful productions such as the recent “Penis Chronicles” while the nearby Pantages Theater is perhaps the best place on the West Coast to see musicals direct from Broadway. Upcoming shows including the dance-filled musical “Newsies” and “Beautiful”, a show we loved on Broadway which chronicles the life of the very special Carole King.
All in all, Weho has everything you need to have a romantic, fun weekend or an escape whenever you need it. Contact us to help you.
