NCL’s Spectacular New Ship, the Prima, Launches Next Year

Norwegian Cruise Lines (“NCL”) is launching the Prima in August of 2022. This will be the first ship that they have launched since the Encore in 2019 and the first ship that they have completely redesigned in over a decade.

While the ship is still being constructed, the renderings and planned offerings are spectacular.

The ship will accommodate 3,215 guests. It will weigh 142,500 tons which is less than the last two classes of ship NCL has had. It is the first of several ships anticipated to be launched in the next few years within NCL’s new Prima Class.

Thrill Attractions

For those who like thrills, the Prima will have that in spades. Perhaps the most anticipated attraction is the Prima Speedway, the first 3-story race track at sea.

Another thrill attraction will be the “Rush” the first 10-story free fall dry slide at sea which promises to be a popular ride for those who can handle it.

The Prima will excite those who want relaxation as well as thrills. The infinity pool will be a deservedly popular new amenity. So will the boardwalk with “Oceanwalk”, the first glass bridges at sea. Art enthusiasts can enjoy the interactive art on board. Game room/sports players will be thrilled with the expanded options including two escape rooms and “Top Golf”.

NCL is boasting that the ship will have the first ever 3-story theater at sea. The theater will be convertible into a Las Vegas style nightclub with dance floor. The Prima will offer itineraries in Europe and the Caribbean as well as transatlantic cruises. The first few cruises will be in Europe. Thereafter, various Caribbean itineraries out of Miami, Port Canaveral and Galveston are available starting in November of 2021.
