What Is It?

It is currently the only motorail service in the United States.  This is a service that allows you to take a train with your vehicle(s).

Once you are boarded on the train, Amtrak loads your vehicles including cars, vans, motorcycles and even small jet skis or boats on the train.

The Auto Train travels about 855 miles from outside Washington D.C. (Lorton, Virginia) to a half-hour (27 miles) north of Orlando, Florida (Sanford). It makes this trip in 17 hours with just one brief stop in Florence, S.C.  Many call this the “Disney World Route”, and it is also a cost efficient way to travel to Florida for spring break.

The Auto Train program is a great option for families because they can reserve entire bedrooms for their family.

The Auto Train is reportedly the longest passenger train in the world and provides remarkable space and amenities for a train of its type. There is a full-service dining car as well as a separate café car, as well as many sleeper and coach cars.
