Bar Harbor Maine Welcomes Cruise Travelers Again
After a two year hiatus due to the pandemic, Bar Harbor Maine has once again welcomed cruise passengers. On April 14, 2022 the Norwegian Pearl was the first cruise ship in more than two years to anchor on the coast of Bar Harbor. Bar Harbor is a charming new England town with quaint shops and restaurants serving Maine lobster and other treats. It is also the gateway to Acadia National Park, a can’t miss site even for those who are not national park devotees. For more information on what Bar Harbor offers, go HERE.
Both the town and the cruise industry were delighted with cruise service resuming. Roxanne and Jay Udasi owners of the town’s Acadia Jewels said “We are excited to see cruisers return. It’s a sign that things are going back to some sense of normalcy”. Kelly Craighead the President/CEO of the Cruise Lines International Association (“CLIA”) described Maine as ” marquee New England destination”. She further noted that it serves “as the gateway to the United States and a port of call along the way to and from destinations in Canada, the Caribbean and beyond for oceangoing ships”.
Bar Harbor is often a stop on New England/Canada cruises that either go up to Nova Scotia or to Montreal. These cruises are great in the warm summer months. These cruises are also very popular in fall when they offer prime opportunities for viewing autumn leaves. These itineraries are offered by many different cruise lines and at different price points.
