A Historic Malibu Hotel Revitalized
A new hotel named the Hotel June recently opened in Malibu, California. While the hotel name is new, the revitalized and restored hotel has a long and interesting history.
Hotel’s History
It originally opened in 1949 as the Riviera Hotel. In 2016 it was restored and renamed the Native Hotel. Its most recent incarnation came into being in May of this year. T. Since 1949 it has occupied the same attractive plot of land right on Malibu’s Pacific Highway.
Over the years the hotel has attracted artists, writers and musicians seeking a place to be inspired to create. Bob Dylan reportedly wrote the music for his album “Blood on the Tracks” in 1974 in the hotel’s bungalow number 13.
Hotel Amenities
The resort features 13 bungalows in a minimalist and upscale Mid-Century style. The bungalows feature restored stone fireplaces and black and white photos of Malibu from the 1960’s, as well as a private patio. The resort also features a heated swimming pool which is rather hard to come by in Malibu. The pet-friendly resort provides surfboards and Linus bikes to guests.
The lobby has oak wood tables and a stone countertop where you can sit and eat light bites offered by the hotel.
The Hotel June is close to some good restaurants including the Malibu Farm and Broadstreet Oyster Company. It is also close to hiking trails, the beach, and other Malibu attractions.

Rates at the hotel vary but start from under $400 a night.
